Established 1796

Seguin Island Light was commissioned by George Washington. It is one of the foggiest places in the world and boasts five hiking trails. The island is 2.5 miles off the mouth of the Kennebec River, south of Georgetown Island, near Fort Popham and Popham Beach State Park. Seguin Island is on the Maine Island Trail (MITA) and is open to private boaters. The lighthouse is maintained by Friends of Sequin Light Station (FOSILS), with tours during the summer.
