Established 1808

West Quoddy Head Light is a picturesque lighthouse depicted in many photographs and calendars—one of two lighthouses in the country to be painted with red and white stripes.

This light is located on the most eastern point in the United States, in the Bay of Fundy, nearest to the town of Lubec. It was built to guide ships through the Quoddy Narrows. The lighthouse grounds are accessible via West Quoddy State Park, which has a visitors’ center as well as a museum in the keeper’s house that is open during the summer. This lighthouse was the first American light east of Penobscot Bay.
